Must be an Answer to this – Categories Revisited

I was looking for a way to display categories in my carousels, in order of category listing type.

For eg – in my East Midlands category, I have East Midlands (main category) followed by Chesterfield, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester (all childs of the main category), and yet – if I add them all, the category shows up as Chesterfield (presumably due to Chesterfield being first in alphabetical order) even though the East Midlands is a huge area and Chesterfield might not be the best way to publicise it.

I know I’ve been told already, that the promoted type will be the first area added – but surely not over a parent category?
