Comment Verification Error

I’ve enabled comments but when I leave a test comment, I get this error message:
The verification code was invalid. Press back and try again.
I’m not seeing a verification code or captcha on the comments box…

This happened to me the other week, but now when I hit a leave comment button, nothing happens. Can anyone else make a test comment and see if it works please?
