I am using Agencypress 7 i have just noticed that the chat functionality only works with browsers with flash enabled and this can be stressful to users who do not know how to make it work. is there a way that we could have a simpler chat ? maybe like the one in facebook as in you dont have to be in a chatroom page in order to chat? Also how can i dispay a page with members? thanks in advance

The chat system included is only designed to be basic, normally chat apps cost more than the price of the theme itself.

You would have to look around if you wished to include any other chat application.

Thanks Mark. What about displaying Members in a page? i would like to have a page called online members and then display all members then other users can see their profiles and interact

My hosting provider just fixed for me see details below

It appears that the chat service makes a http request to this url:

    http://MISITE.com/wp-content/themes/agencypress/PPT/chatroom/?u=1

This was causing the 404 errors that you saw when you clicked to chat.

I updated the .htaccess code from

    # Get rid of index.php
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /index\.php
    RewriteRule (.*) index.php?rewrite=2 [L,QSA]

    to

    # Get rid of index.php
    # needed for the chatroom
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !chatroom
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /index\.php
    RewriteRule (.*) index.php?rewrite=2 [L,QSA]

Which omits urls with ‘chatroom’ from being redirected, and it appears to function normally.

Now it works fine I also installed a footer chat similar to the one on facebook
and seems to work fine http://wordpress.org/plugins/envolve-chat/

    Thanks for the suggestion @Aaron
