I am doing a fresh install with Shop Theme 8.9.4
Main install is fine, but when I try to install a child theme, I get this:
Unpacking the package…
Installing the theme…
This theme requires a parent theme. Checking if it is installed…
Preparing to install …
Downloading install package from https://www.premiumpress.com/_childthemes/download.php?key=%5BXXX%5D…
The package could not be installed. The theme contains no files.
Theme install failed.
is the child theme visible under your themes tab after installion?
Hello Stephen, Have you tried uploading it manually?Access the folder wp-content >Themes and upload the unzipped child theme. You can access the file either via ftp or from cpanel >file manager
@ Mark – Yes, all the child themes are visible.
@ Josh – I will give that go and get back to you
I noticed WordPress had an update today as well – to 4.6 i think. I will do a complete uninstall of all my files and start over again.
Thanks guys 🙂
You’re welcome Stephen. Please update how it goes
I am unable to install any child themes either in wp-admin or via ftp. This is so frustrating not be able to do this.
I noticed that the theme .zip file downloads as “ST” – when it SHOULD be “SP”.
Try renaming the theme folder in your File Manager (wp-content > themes > ST) to this (wp-content > themes > SP) and see if the child themes within the WP interface install once your changes are live.
This has been a very frustrating ordeal for me as well, but everything appears to be working now.
If you’re all using new versions responsive shop theme 8.9.7 , its template must be ST.
When you get install failed from Appearance > Childtheme all you have to do is go to Appearance > Editor, select the childtheme from the rightside dropdown. In style.css file you will see :
Template : SP or Template : [XXX] , replace it with Template : ST ,then update file. After changing go back to Appearance > Themes , refresh the page twice, your childtheme is visible and ready to be activated.
Hi, i’m new here, and i’d like to install child theme, but i have the same issue with auctionpress.
Depending on the hosting environment the auto template may or may not work. Its easier to download the theme and do it the wordpress way.
same problem here it shows: Unpacking the package…
Downloading installation package from https://www.premiumpress.com/_childthemes/download.php?key=%5BXXX%5D…
Theme installation failed.
Theme installed successfully.
it shows parent theme missing.
This Theme Becoming real mess. No Support and non Technical user can’t even install the theme properly. i don’t it’s because of WordPress version 4.9.5 or something else.
what childtheme are you trying to install?

to fix your issue, go to Appearance > Editor, select your childtheme. In the style.css you will see Template :[XXX] replace [XXX] to the name of your theme i.e
Template : DT
go back to Appearance > themes , refresh the page twice, and the childtheme is successfully installed
