Social Icons in Header

Can anyone suggest how to insert social icons in the header? Note I am using Responsive Directory theme with Rocky Red child theme. I searched for a plugin and there are hundreds available that easily insert social icons via the widget but I cannot find a solution that supports inserting them into the header.
