I have more than 700 items, mainly wine varieties, on my website and need to update quantities, price, and add new items. The CSV import tool is a good way to maintain the site due to the large number of items. However, after reading posts concerning this feature and experimenting with it on test products, I’m very cautious about doing a wholesale upload of the file for the reasons mentioned ahead.

    1. The ID isn’t in the header but column AB is the SKU number. I know an ID # is needed and wondered why it wasn’t in the file like the tutorial showed?
    2. The CSV download also contains many lines of article and other posts that aren’t products. What do i do about them on the upload?

    3. The CSV extends to column AF, which is the Category column. That is an important column for each post and many of the columns in between that and the first are alien to me having to do with plugins and other parts of WordPress or the theme. What do I do with them on new products? will the default settings be entered on the new products when the post is created?

    4. Is there an easy way to revert to a previous post database if a csv upload creates a disaster that needs to be removed?

Thanks for any help you can give me with this.
