Admin Area
Admin Area
Finding your way around the theme's admin screens.
The theme adds its own screens to wp-admin. This page explains how they are organised; every individual screen is catalogued in Admin screens, which is generated from the shipped code and always matches the version you are running.
Where things are
Three top-level items appear in the WordPress menu:
| Menu item | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Listings | Your listings — the main content of the site. |
| PremiumPress | Everything else, as a submenu. |
| Settings | Global theme settings. |
Nearly everything lives under PremiumPress.
The groups
The submenu is long, but it divides into a few areas:
Content — Listings, Taxonomies, Comments, Blog, Stories. The things your site is made of.
People — Users, Subscribers, Memberships. Accounts, what they can do, and who has subscribed.
Money — Orders, Checkout, Pricing Plans, Payouts, Advertising. Everything transactional: what is for sale, what has been bought, what you owe sellers.
Presentation — Design, Site Generator, Search, Custom Fields, Email. How the site looks, what it shows, and what it sends.
Setup — Dashboard, Settings, Set up PPT. Where you start, and where you go back to.
Screens you may not have
Some screens only appear for the product you licensed. Bids belongs to the auction theme, Stores and Merchants to shopping products, Match queue to dating. If a screen named here is not in your menu, it belongs to a different product.
The product switcher in the header of these docs narrows Features to your own product.
Two screens worth knowing early
Dashboard is the landing screen — an overview of recent activity and anything needing attention.
Site Generator is the visual editor for your design. You can also reach it by clicking the pencil on the front end while logged in as an administrator, which is usually quicker than going through the menu.
Settings
Settings is the global screen, separate from the PremiumPress submenu because it applies to the whole theme rather than one feature. It is also where Reset theme lives, which clears the setup flag and re-runs the installer — useful for testing, destructive on a live site.
