Add Listing Form
Add Listing Form
How listings get created and edited.
One form, two places
The same listing editor is used in both places a listing can be edited:
| Where | |
|---|---|
| Admin | PremiumPress ▸ Listings, then edit a listing. |
| Member | The member's own account area, on the front end, for a listing they own. |
Both save through the same code, so a field behaves identically wherever it is edited. This matters when you add a custom field: define it once and it appears in both.
Admin and member see different things
The form adapts to who is filling it in.
Administrators get the full set: status, author, URL slug, featured and verified flags, and any field marked edit only.
Members get a friendly subset scoped to their own listing. They cannot publish themselves into a featured slot, reassign a listing to another user, or change fields you have reserved for staff.
Mark a custom field edit only when it is for internal use — an internal reference, a moderation note, a commission rate.
What the form contains
Two layers:
Core fields, present on every listing: title, description, category, tags, featured image, gallery, and FAQ entries.
Your custom fields, everything defined under PremiumPress ▸ Custom Fields — added to the form in the order you set, and stored against the listing so the listing page can display them.
Together those are the whole form. There is no separate template to edit: change the custom fields and the form changes.
See Fields & Default Content for how to define them.
Adding a field
- Go to PremiumPress ▸ Custom Fields.
- Add the field, choose its type, and decide whether members can edit it.
- It now appears on both editors, and on the listing page.
If you also want people to be able to filter by it, add a matching filter under PremiumPress ▸ Search — storing a field and searching on it are configured separately.
What happens on save
Listings are ordinary WordPress posts; custom fields are stored as post meta keyed by the field key. Nothing proprietary — if you ever export, your data is in the tables you would expect.
Whether a new listing is published immediately or held for review depends on your package and moderation settings, in Monetize.
The implementation is documented under Directory.
