Monetize

The ways your site can charge money.

There are four, and they are independent — run one, or several together. All of them need a working payment method first, from Payment Gateways.

Listing packages

A package is what someone buys in order to publish a listing. Packages are tiered: a free package with limited photos and a 30-day run, a paid one with more photos and featured placement, and so on.

Configured under PremiumPress ▸ Pricing Plans (ppt_pricing_plans).

Use packages when the listing itself is the product — classifieds, property, vehicles, jobs.

Listing upgrades

Upgrades are optional add-ons bought after a listing exists: bump it to the top, add a highlight, extend its run.

They pair well with a cheap or free base package — people list for nothing, then pay for visibility once they see the traffic.

Memberships

A membership is a recurring subscription that gives ongoing access rather than paying per listing. Configured under PremiumPress ▸ Memberships (ppt_memberships).

Memberships gate features: a plan determines what the member can do — how many listings they may have, whether they can message other members, whether their listings carry a badge.

Memberships or packages?

Many sites run both: packages for casual users, a membership for businesses that list constantly.

Credits

Credits are a prepaid balance. Members buy a pack up front, then spend credits on actions — posting, upgrading, downloading, contacting.

Switched on per product under Checkout ▸ Credits, where you also set what one credit is worth and which packs are for sale. Not every product ships with credits enabled.

Credits suit sites where usage is frequent and varied, and where paying per action would mean too many separate transactions. See Credits.

Advertising

Beyond charging users, you can sell ad space. PremiumPress ▸ Advertising (ppt_advertising) manages ad zones and the ads placed in them, including a members-facing page where advertisers buy a slot themselves. See Advertising.

What your product supports

Not every product exposes all four — a booking theme monetises differently from a coupon site. Check Features for your product, using the switcher in the header, to see which apply to you.
