Demo Content
Demo Content
What gets created when you set the theme up, and how to remove it.
There are two different things called "demo content" in v12, and they behave very differently. The distinction matters, because one of them you can delete and the other one does not exist to delete.
1. Seeded content — real records
The last step of the setup wizard seeds sample listings, along with the categories and locations they need. These are ordinary WordPress posts and terms. They exist in your database, they are yours, and you can edit or delete them like any other content.
Delete them from Listings in wp-admin once you have your own content in. There is no "uninstall demo content" button — they are just posts.
Sample listings are created by the installer. If you skipped that step or have already deleted them, they do not come back on their own.
2. Demo dressing — never written to the database
Separately, while a site is in demo or preview mode, listing pages fill their empty sections with plausible-looking reviews, ratings, Q&A and specifications, so an unfinished listing still looks complete while you are evaluating a design.
None of this is stored. It is generated at render time from the listing's ID — the same listing shows the same fake reviews each time, but nothing is ever written, and there is nothing to clean up.
This dressing is only active in preview/demo mode. Once you activate a design the site is live and it stops entirely, so real listings never show invented reviews. If a section looked full during evaluation and looks empty afterwards, this is why — the section is waiting for your real data.
The gate is documented under DemoContent.
Which am I looking at?

| Created by | The setup wizard | Preview/demo mode |
Starting over
Settings ▸ Reset theme clears the setup flag so the wizard runs again. It does not tidy up content the previous run created — delete that yourself first if you want a genuinely clean start, and back up before you do.
