Site Generator
Site Generator
The Site Generator is the visual editor for your homepage and your other main pages.
Opening the Site Generator
Open it with the magic-wand button at the top of any PremiumPress admin screen, the brush button beside a page in Design ▸ All Pages, or the blue Edit this design tab on your site while signed in.
On the left are the Assistant, Blocks and History tabs. In the middle is a live preview. Along the bottom, Page sections shows one card per section.
Desktop, Tablet and Mobile show the page at each size. The top bar also has light/dark and full-screen buttons, and the preview has zoom buttons.
Editing text, links and single elements
Click any text in the preview and type. A small toolbar offers Text colour and font size.
To rename the page, click its name in the address bar above the preview.
To remove one thing inside a section, such as a button, hover over it and click the red ✕. Undo brings it back.
To change where a button or link goes, hover over it and click the small link badge. Type the new address in the Link box and click Apply. The ✕ in that box restores the original link.
Images, video and colours
Click a small picture to replace it. Large hero pictures have a Change image button. Pick or upload a picture in your media library, then click Use this image.
Video sections have Change clip. Choose a clip from your media library, paste a YouTube or Vimeo link and click Use link, or click Remove video.
The Brand swatches set Primary, Secondary and Accent for this page's design. Site-wide colours live on Design ▸ Brand.
Adding and arranging sections
On the Blocks tab, click a slot, choose a category, then click a block to place it. Or type in Search all blocks…. The eye button on a block previews it, with Add to page.
Live data blocks, marked LIVE, show your real listings and categories. Standard blocks, such as testimonials or FAQs, carry their own content. In demo mode, live blocks show samples.
Click Add section at the end of Page sections to add one. Drag the cards there to reorder.
The eye button on a slot hides that section, and hidden sections are left off the page when you save. To delete a section, click the ✕ on its slot or the bin on its card. Clear All empties the whole page.
Choosing which listings show
A listings section, such as Featured this week, shows your newest listings until you choose otherwise.
- Mark the listings you want to feature: in Listings, click the star in the Highlighted column. A gold star means the listing is Featured.
- In the Site Generator's Blocks list, the listings section has an Order setting under its name. Choose Featured first. Featured listings come first, and your newest listings fill any space left.
- Click Save Design.
Order also offers Newest first, Oldest first, Random and Most viewed, plus price orders on themes with prices.
Undo, redo and earlier versions
Use Undo and Redo above the preview, or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Shift+Z (Cmd on a Mac).
The editor saves as you go. The History tab lists these saves by time. Click one to restore it. Undo brings back what you replaced.
Publishing with Save Design
Your edits stay in the editor until you click Save Design. If your live site has not changed, this is almost always why.
When the editor knows your page, the green button reads Save to plus its name, such as Save to Home. It shows Saving…, then Saved.
The arrow beside it lists your pages. Click any page to save the design onto it, or click Save as a new page… to create a new, live page. Pages with a design are marked live, with a button to View the live page.
Saving onto a page built with Elementor or Divi replaces its builder layout. The editor warns you first.
Other pages and saved designs
Load Page opens a different page. Nothing goes live until you save.
In the save list, each live page has buttons to view it, edit it (the pencil) or remove its saved design (the ✕). The clock button shows Previous versions, the last ten published versions. Load one, then save again to restore it.
To edit your terms or privacy policy, load Terms & Conditions Page or Privacy Page and click the text. The Edit content panel opens the normal WordPress editor. Click Apply, then save.
Building with the AI Assistant
The Assistant needs an Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI key. Without one it shows Assistant offline. Add your key under Settings ▸ Connectors in WordPress: click Install next to Anthropic or OpenAI, paste the key and click Save.
Then type what you want, such as "a homepage for a dog groomer". The preview updates straight away. Nothing goes live until you save.
To choose the AI, open AI site generator in the MCP server section of PremiumPress Settings. Auto uses whichever key is set, preferring Claude. Or pick Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI (GPT). If the chosen one has no key, the Assistant goes offline.
Building without AI
Without a key, the Assistant tab shows Build a page. Choose a page type, such as Home page or FAQ page, or Surprise me (random), and a complete page is built for you to edit.
The message box only appears once a key is connected. Short commands like "swap the hero", "move slot 2 to 1" or "dark mode" then run instantly without using the AI.
Backing up your designs
Under Export, Download saved designs (.json) saves every saved design to a file. Import saved designs… loads one back, replacing saved designs for the same pages.
Designs for standard pages, such as Home, move to another site cleanly. A design saved onto a page you created is tied to that page, so check it after moving.
