Compared with newer gateways, Authorize.net is showing signs of age. Some of the many things they don’t support:

Transaction & Running costs

Authorize.net is commonly known as a gateway, meaning you also need to work with a merchant account, in addition to American Express in order to accept payments from all the major card networks. Each of these three parties will charge their own fees separately.

Just with Authorize.net alone, you’ll be charged:

  • A setup fee of $99.00
  • A monthly gateway fee of $20.00
  • A per-transaction fee of $0.10
  • A per batch fee of $0.25

They also charge optional fees for the following services:

  • A fraud detection service fee of $9.95 per month
  • A recurring billing fee of $10.00 per month
  • A customer information manager fee of $20.00 per month
  • An hourly fee to migrate your data, which can easily add up to hundreds of dollars

In addition, you’ll be charged rates of around 3.5% by American Express for any AmEx payments you accept. Then, you’ll receive a variety of unpredictable interchange fees from your merchant bank. This will be the case regardless of the size of your business.

With Authorize.net you can apply for a shipper account through them or select a processor that has a banding together concurrence with Authorize.net. The later allows you the ability to negotiate the setup fees, transaction and batch fees.

Setup and Configuration new account

  1. First of all, you have to sign in to your Authorize.net account.
  2. For the access of your setting go to the top menu and select Account.
  3. Select  API credential & Keys which is under the Security Setting.
  4. Then after API selection copy your API login ID.
  5. If you forget your old transaction key or don’t have a transaction key then you have to obtain a new transaction key.
  6. After obtaining API Login ID and Transaction key go to your classy menu and select Setting.
  7. After this, you have to Payment Processor Portal.
  8. Then select the option Authorize.net.
  9. In the form, you have to enter an API Login ID and Transaction Key which you get earlier.
  10.  Save all the changes you have done.
  11.  Finish.

How do I install the payment plugin?

Installation is quick and easy, follow the steps below to get started accepting payments on your website.

Step 1 - Download the free plugin.

Our free WordPress plugins are available to all members. You must first have a valid account with PremiumPress before you can download the plugin. Use the button on the right side of this page to download the plugin.

Step 2 - Install the plugin.

All PremiumPress free plugins are installed just like any other WordPress plugin. You do this via the WordPress admin area under Plugins -> Add Plugin tab.

Step 3 - Confirm plugin has been installed.

You've you've installed and activated the plugin, you should now see the plugin visible in the PremiumPress configuration panel.

Step 4 - Setup plugin.

Now click on the gateway name and enter the details it asks for which are usually obtained from your payment gateway provider and enable the plugin to be using it.

Once you've enabled the plugin via the Configuration page, it will be live on your website for members to use during checkout and payment processes.
