Have set up a membership package & have ticked “Recurring” next to the price setting of say $40 per month.
Does this mean the User will be charged on a recurring basis automatically?
How would the User cancel this? Is the fact that the payment is recurring notified in the Paypal part of the transaction.
ie when they approve their transaction on their paypal account – is it clear the payment is a recurring one?
you have to have a ‘subscription’ in PayPal enabled for it to charge recurring, but you should know that PayaPal accepts cancellation for subscriptions from Credit Card user. You can not force someone to continue a subscription to your PremiumPress site, or you’ll have issues you do not want to have. Client is King and can change their mind.
So if they have already paid their first subscription and used the service they paid for – they are allowed to cancel the payment?

@clive is there some grace period and do they not have to prove they have not had some benefit from the payment.
Because this could very well become a scam.
When is the transaction deemed complete – so the payment can remain irredeemable.
This would render the transactional process a nonsense! Which seems highly un likely.
If this is correct that would mean every transaction on the web could be disputed.

A customer can cancel only the unclaimed payments. If payment is completed, customer will have to contact the merchant for a refund.
As per Paypal, unclaimed payments can be cancelled for the following reasons:
A payment sent to an email address is not associated with a PayPal account. Once the email address is added to a PayPal account, the payment is automatically credited to the balance of that account
A payment is sent to a recipient with an unconfirmed email address. For security reasons, PayPal can only credit payments sent to a confirmed email address.
If Cancel is not an option in the Order status/Actions column, the payment has been claimed and cannot be cancelled.
A subscription can be cancelled by the customer at any time. But it doesn’t cancel the completed payments.
