Placing ads on the outer sides of container

    Hello,

I would want to place clickable ads on both sides of the main content area, to use an empty space on the wide screens. Is there any plugin that would work for that? If not what would be the best way to do it?

    Thank you.

If you place ‘text widgets’ in your sidebars, you can put affiliate image links in there or almost anything you want. Google Ads can show in sidebars too.In DP you can also place banners in different areas. Plugins are not always necessary. All depends on what you want. But there are plugins you can find in WordPress for placing ads on site, I just don’t know how compatible they are with Premium Press. I use text widgets and advertising options included in DP.

Thank you for response. I didn’t mean ads in sidebar though, but want to place ads outside of the main container. Like here for example: http://sportske.jutarnji.hr On this website main content is 968px wide (span-12) and you can see ads outside of that area on both sides, so empty area on wide screens is used for ads. I could probably make it just like a centered and fixed background image with link, wider for ads width. I was wondering if there is some plugin that easily solves that.

Hm, I see what you mean, but it is one ad for Ameritrade and it’s just cut in helf by the website itself.
May be someone with more experience will help you.

OK thank you. I will try to make it with background image or will create new divs for those side ads.

I don’t understand the point of such ads, as they will only show to people who have very wide screens and on top of that, it will cause issues to the responsiveness on mobile devices.

    Kind regards,

    Richard

Keyword to search for in Google or in WordPress Plugin directory:

    WordPress float ad plugin

    or

    WordPress float content plugin

Try this, you might get what you want.

Thank you Chue, yes that’s exactly what I needed. Found this one too, very similar, only newly updated:

    http://wordpress.org/plugins/float-banner/

    Works nice.

Richard, I wanted to place ads that are not too wide and would show up on most desktop or laptop screens, especially if main content has usual width. I was thinking too about responsiveness issues but those plugins have an option to choose the starting screen size from which to show the ads, so they will be hidden on smaller sizes. This is a good way to use empty space around main content, and is very common on many sites lately, especially magazines, classifieds and such.

    Regards

I am trying it more and ads kinda bounce while scrolling, which is distracting. Would be good if it would be possible to fix their position somehow, to be without floating animation.

NP, glad it works for you.

There should be a way to make the ad fixed, contact the plug-in author for help.
