NEW Message – Still Showing After Being Read – MicroJobs Theme

We seem to find that even after reading a new message in our accounts, the system still shows “1 new message” alert (or how many there are in the message box) under my messages in my account.

Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this so after a message is read, and marked read in gray, the new message alert will not show in my messages?
