Image Gallery user uploads displayed in reverse order

in the listing page Image Galley, the images are displayed in the opposite order to that which they are uploaded.

user uploads chronologically:
user photo 1
user photo 2
user photo 3
user photo 4

user photo 1 is the featured image, makes sense, it’s the first one they upload.

BUT on the listing page the photos are then displayed in reverse order… 4,3,2,1

in theme setup > pagesetup > listing page > custom : I’ve put this, but doesn’t have the desired effect:
[IMAGES type="images" orderby="ID" order="desc"]

any suggestions to get the images displaying in a more ‘human logical’ way rather than code logical?!
