You’ve just installed a PremiumPress theme, now what?
In this article we’ll look at 10 recommended steps to follow after you’ve installed a PremiumPress theme.
PremiumPress themes do not depend on plugins to function, having said that there are plugins that offer additional features and functionality that can improve your website and speed up your workflow.
The 5 main plugins we recommend for our customers are;
You can either manually download the plugins via the WordPress repository here or use the easier method of searching from them within your WordPress admin area.
Although Google Analytics and Google Captcha are useful, the important one here is Google maps. Google maps is used a lot within our themes for listing locations and contact pages.
We suggest you set up each of these first before continuing.
This basic step is also an important one, the company details you provide are used in multiple locations throughout your website. We recommend filling in this page with as much detail as possible.
The map location you set here is used for all contact pages and map company map displays. If the map does not display.
It goes without saying you’re going to need a navigation menu for users to navigate your website. By default the theme includes a pre-defined menu bar for you to navigate the demo pages but you’ll want to set up your own.
If you are expecting users to have access to the members area to manage their account details you’ll need to ensure you’ve enabled user registration within WordPress.
A permalink refers to the URL that a user enters into their browser to display a webpage.
For example: http://mywebsite.com/permalink/
The concept of “pretty permalinks” is to make it easier for users to navigate your website by using short, easy to read and type permalinks.
We recommend the following WordPress permalinks setup.
PremiumPress themes have multiple buttons and links to internal pages to help users navigate. Rather than you having to go through all pages to set up these links manually, we’ve centerized a single page where you can assign the link once, and the theme will use it for all ossicated links.
With many pre-designed layouts available you may want to come back to this step again and again until you’ve chosen the ideal design for your business.
In the meantime however, we suggest picking any design that you like to help you get started. You can reset the design and/or select a different on at time.
Your website identity is an important one and will visitors and members remember your business and brand. Here you can upload your own image logo or enter a text logo.
During the initial setup we suggest using the text logo option, you can return anytime to upload an image logo if required.
All PremiumPress themes have built-in email options to help notify your website users of events happening within your website. For example, registration, orders & discounts etc
You can turn on/off emails and set up the email content from within the admin area.
