Note: PremiumPress themes are installed the exact same way as normal WordPress themes, there are no differences.
There is typically three methods of installing a WordPress theme – manually with an FTP client, using the file manager in your hosting account or automatically using the upload feature in the WordPress dashboard. Below you will see both options.
Installing Through the WordPress Dashboard
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard and go to Appearance > Themes.
- You will notice two big tabs “manage themes” and “install themes”, click on the “install themes” tab.
- Just below the headline, you will see a link that says “Upload” – click that.
- Click the browse button and find the PremiumPress theme file (.zip) you have downloaded then click the “Install Now” button.
- It will then begin uploading the theme files, once uploaded you can click the “active” link to active the new theme and then your done!
Installing With an FTP Client
- Download the PremiumPress theme zip file to your local machine and unzip it. You will have the main theme folder (e.g couponpress) and inside will be lots of files.
- Log onto your server through an FTP client, and find your site’s wp-content/themes/ directory. You will want to transfer the entire theme folder to that directory so for example it will end up looking like this wp-content/themes/couponpress/
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard, and go to Appearance > Themes. There you will see screenshots of the themes that are available for you to use. Click on the theme title (or theme screenshot) for the theme you wish to activate. A preview of the theme will be shown, and then you can click the Activate link in the top right of the preview window.
Installing Using a File Manager
Notes: The available of a file manager will depend on your hosting provider, not all hosting providers provide file managers.
- Download the PremiumPress theme zip file to your local machine and unzip it. DO NOT unzip it
- Log onto your hosting account and navigate to your file manager.
- Using the file manager, navigate to the folder: wp-content/themes/
- Upload the PremiumPress theme file to this folder and once uploaded use the extract (unzip tool) to unpack the theme contents to the folder.
- Log in to your WordPress dashboard, and go to Appearance > Themes. There you will see screenshots of the themes that are available for you to use. Click on the theme title (or theme screenshot) for the theme you wish to activate. A preview of the theme will be shown, and then you can click the Activate link in the top right of the preview window.
