What happens when people change their membership level?

    I have a fairly straight forward, yet important question.

    My site offeres several different recurring monthly membership levels. For example, if a member logins into their account, they are taken to their "My Account" page. On this page, it may say "You are a Level 1 Member". At the bottom of the page it lists the other memberships: Level 2 and Level 3.

    Question: if the member in this example clicked on "Level 2" and paid for it, "Level 1" is removed and placed at the bottom of the page with "level 3". However, does this process also cancel the subscription in Paypal or will they be billed for Level 1 AND Level 2?

    Does upgrading to level two cancel the subscription to level one? We're using paypal payments pro, so users do not have a paypal account.

    Q. Does upgrading to level two cancel the subscription to level one?
    A. yes

    Q. does this process also cancel the subscription in Paypal
    A. no, only the user can cancel a subscription
