    My Website Link:
    My Theme Version: 7.0.9.4

    Hi Everyone,
Here's my problem: I created some packages for my auction press site, but I also created a membership for those people who want unlimited auctions.

Once I created the Membership option, I could no longer "see" my account details. Everytime I click "my account" I see the page that says "you need to pay for your membership." So I went back into the admin panel and deleted the membership option, but I still can't see my account details. I keep getting the "payment required for membership."

How do I disable the membership option? I know where the disable button is and I ticked it, but I still can't get back to my "my account" page.

    Somebody help...please?

HEY...I think I just found the problem, altho I don't know how to fix it.

I get this warning on the Membership page:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/r/i/t/ritasshades/html/ReTeachit-Test/wp-content/themes/auctionpress/admin/admin-save.php on line 179

This happened after I first experimented with creating a membership, and now, even after I deleted the membership package, I keep getting this warning.

Please, someone help if you can.

    Thanks,
    Rita Lorraine

Lorraine I could kind of foresee some problems with this so I asked Mark the best way, in my case, to create a 'blanket' membership. It's a little different than your problem because I had just planned to not use packages, but a blanket membership for all. Mark wrote this back, it might or might not be helpful:

memberships allow you to limit access to pages and listings, you can also give membership users unlimited submission rights so they dont have to pay for each individual listing.

I'd like to have a one-time membership entry, then have full access to all the site functions.

in this case simply turn ON user registration for submissions, disable submission packages and then make a membership package so users have to signup when registrating.

    Hey Michael,
Thanks for your answer. I'll try this and I hope it helps, but...I don't know.

Right now, it seems as if once a user chooses a "membership," they won't be able to change their minds and back out of that choice. I was simply experimenting, but now I can't back out of the membership choice. This means I can't go to my "my account" page at all, which is a bummer because that's where all the user details are.

I'll try your suggestion. In the meantime, if anyone else sees this post, I would appreciate any help you can give!

Thanks again and have a nice nite,

    Rita Lorraine

Hi again Michael (and Everyone else),
Well...this didn't work for me. I want to delete the Membership I experimented with and just offer packages, but now I can't go back. It's like I'm locked out of the Packages Option now, even tho I went into the admin panel and deleted the Membership.

Please Mark or someone, help me figure out what to do. Again, here's the error message I'm getting:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/content/r/i/t/ritasshades/html/ReTeachit-Test/wp-content/themes/auctionpress/admin/admin-save.php on line 179

    Thanks much,
    Rita Lorraine

    hi Rita

if your assigned pages to memberships then deleted them the warning above may show, ill add a stop to this in the update.

when u setup memberships make sure u enter a valid price and duration otherwise the membership isnt complete and thus the user has to pay and no payment amount is set.

    Hi Mark,
Thanks for explaining this to me. But is there any way to fix it? Will I need to re-create the Membership then follow-thru on the paypal to get it to go back to the way it was?

    Thanks,
    Rita Lorraine

    Wow, great tutorial Mark.

It's still gonna take some time to get everything set up, but now at least I actually understand packages vs. memberships.

    Thanks for all you do,

I've watched the tutorial which was really useful but it has presented an issue in the Classifieds Theme.

    I have 2 membership packages;
    1. For Agents so they pay to join but get unlimited submissions
    2. For everyone else who can join up for free but pay per ad

The problem is that the video shows that you can associate a submission package to the membership package. But on the Classfifieds Theme you don't seem to be able to do that - it doesn't have the same set of fields for membership Packages as it shows in the video.

    So, for instance, I might have the following submission packages;
    1. Free
    2. Silver
    3. Gold

I want to be able to set the Agents up with unlimited Gold submissions.

    please help

The problem with the impossibility to cancel the decision to buy a mebmership persists in the last version of DP to date.

If i create a test account and decide to "upgrade membership" to a paid option, all the "my account" links dissapear and instead there is the following message:

"Payment Required for MyPremiumMembership. Please select a payment option from the list below to make payment for your membership package.

There is no way for the user to "cancel" the procedure and go back to their normal account, should the payment fail or should they change their mind about upgrading.

    What is the fix here?

    Thanks!

    Simon

in this case they would need to contact the admin who can manually downgrade their account.

ill see about adding more options in a later release if this starts to become a problem.

I think that would be a great addition if there is a simple "cancel membership" button that automatically cancels the "pending status", because the user is pretty much stuck until the admin takes action..

I agree with this suggestion, as this can be very discouraging for a new user and make the actual operation of a directory "top heavy". Our clients shouldn't have to track us down to accomplish what I am sure is simple on other sites, i.e. "cancel transaction and return to account". Essentially our clients are 'frozen' out of their account until they get help from admin, in reality they will probably abandon the process completely rather than wrestle with the problem or ask for assistance, that is human nature..I hope this will be given attention in the next update...

I did submit submit a tix and query about the membership cancellation before.

User will "accidentally" clicked the SELECT membership and decided to cancel it. I'm one of their kind.

The worst part of all is they can't even access their MY ACCOUNT to add listing anymore. This is very bad because user might just get fedup and leave the website forever without taking any intention to contact the admin to resolve the problem.

Looking forward for a solution to this

Any movement on this? It's something that definitely needs addressing.
