Order by not working

Hi all,
I need to change the url for order by funtions to work.
To get this to work I need to add this /?s= to the url to work.

All works fine when I use the search bar, but when I click on other links or widgets like categories on the side bar it doesn’t.

What I get now is https://mywebsite.com/category/cars&orderby=distance&order=asc (not work)
If I change to https://mywebsite.com/category/cars/?s=&orderby=distance&order=asc (works).

Do you know why this is happening? and how to sort this?
