I’m getting the “mixed content” yellow padlock on Auto Dealer theme. I got most of the calls cleaned up but I’m looking for advice on the image calls to my current sales listings which are being called with regular http on port 80. Is there a way to change those? Should I use SQL to change entries in the database?

    Hello Jason,

If you’re able too, yes, backup your database first then replace any applicable ‘http’ refs to ‘https’.

Note: This assumes you’ve already completed the appropriate changes to the wordpress installation.

Go to Text view in your WP post editor (one by one manually) unfortunately.
and add an S on the end of ALL your http links and images to make all links and image links say https:// instead of how they are now which is obviously just http://

Find every single link and image and change them all in text editor view in word press.
It will turn green padlock once you have got them all changed. If it is still yellow you have missed a link, start hunting for it again.

This also includes all links including in side bar widgets, menus, buttons everything I mean absolutely every link everywhere MUST be changed to https:// NOT leaving it as http://
Hope this helps. Yes you need to do it one by one. get a couple of bottles of wine to start you off maybe 3 bottles should do it, because it’s a big job if you have a lot of images and links, at least you’ll be happy when you start doing it, and by the end of the 2nd bottle you won’t care!
    😉

if an admin guru could answer above problems…I have spent many many hours for just a few pages now..due to problems that keep arising..but its ok as long as I can fix them..I have asked this question in other messages I have left..but this is direct now…

Before I work more on my site…I need to know about the HTTPS..my site has to go to HTTPS..when its done…if not..passwords can be stolen..payments..etc…

Question is..what will happen when I do this…what is going to stop working…and if so..what can I do to fix it?…Thank you in advance

If you don’t want to do it manually this plugin will work without issue:

    Really Simple SSL

There are a couple of harcoded calls to scripts with http this will also fix on the fly.

Thanks for the info…I dont know much about the plugin.. I know how to go into workpress and change the http to an “s”..but from what I am getting when some people do switch it causes function problems…cuz inside the code there are http lines not https…so without modifying back end…will this plugin serve the purpose I am looking for..Thanks again for the info! :)

    Hello Julian,
Try the plugin mentioned above (Really Simple SSL) >>https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/
I have used the plugin before and it worked perfectly
