    Hi! journeytowhimsy.com is my domain. Uploaded the shop them and see several child themes available under appearance but I click install only to receive error “install failed”. I checked earlier posts on the subject and ensured I’m working with version 8.9.6 and I also uploaded the ST Zip File to my file manager on cpanel and checked to make sure that it was uploaded on wordpress. What can I do?

    BTW, trying to use the “Directory theme S2”. If that is not available to me under the shop theme then how do I access (know) which child themes are available to me?

    Hello Kimberly,

    There is an issue with wordpress when installing child themes.After getting the error please go back to Appearance >Themes and check if the child theme has already been installed.
    If not installed you can install it manually:
    -Access the the folder wp-content >themes located in your server/host (you can access the folder from your cpanel/host login section >file manager.You can also access the folder via ftp)
    -Download the child theme zipped file >>http://childthemes.premiumpress.com/
    -Unzip and upload the child theme at wp-content >theme (or upload then unzip)
    -Go to Appearance >Themes >Activate child theme

    Hi,

    I’m having the same issue trying to install Practis on a new comparison installation.

    I’ve downloaded the child theme and manually uploaded it to wp-content ….tried it with folder ‘template_basic_Practis’ & just ‘Practis’.

    I’ve also uploaded this to ‘templates’ within the parent theme.

    I still get ‘Installation failed: The package could not be installed.’

    Please could someone let me know how to fix this?

    Thanks,

    Andy

    Hello,
    Some of the child themes are for the old theme version hence might not work correctly with theme latest version.Anyway try this:

    Access your child theme >style.css.You can do this via your host cpanel or ftp or from wordpress admin section Appearance >Editor
    Put the theme abbreviation your using in the child themes style.css, like if using Directory Theme abbreviation is DT

    /*
    Theme Name: September Dir 2016
    Theme URI: http: //www.premiumpress.com
    Description: This is a child theme for the PremiumPress responsive framework.
    Author: Mark Fail
    Author URI: http: //www.premiumpress.com
    Template: [XXX]
    Version: 1.0
    Requires: 8.4+
    */

    The Template [XXX] replace with DT or whatever theme your using. “WITHOUT THE BRACKETS… Just the Parent theme name.

    so should look as below:

    /*
    Theme Name: September Dir 2016
    Theme URI: http: //www.premiumpress.com
    Description: This is a child theme for the PremiumPress responsive framework.
    Author: Mark Fail
    Author URI: http: //www.premiumpress.com
    Template: DT
    Version: 1.0
    Requires: 8.4+
    */
