fatal error when uploading images

    i am trying to upload pictures to my wordpress theme and keep getting this error Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 69206016) (tried to allocate 24512 bytes) in /home/spc/public_html/wp-includes/media.php on line 254
    how do i fix this, the picture i am uploading is only 1.8mb

    Hi Kevin,

    try to contact your hosting provider and ask if they can increase your upload max size for you

    i did and they said it was a problem with the theme, i have tested this and uploaded the same pictures on another theme and it worked, same hosting

    We were constantly having this issue on 1&1 Servers. Tried every trick and macgyver out there to tweak WordPress and nothing worked. The problem ended up being the images. From what I can tell, when we tried to upload multiple higher res images it caused the server to kick out a memory error because it was trying to resize the images and didn't allocate enough memory to do it. It's not like host is about to fork out more memory allocation for your site. The fix was resizing all images to 640 x 480 before posting. Hasn't happened since and we can now load up to 15 images simultaneously with each listing.

    Hope this helps save somebody else from a lot of aggravation.
