Child Theme Creation Breaks Google Event Tracking – and Then Website!

    Hi guys,

I’m really hoping someone can help.

I’ve created a child theme out of the customisations I’ve made to the website. All was well until I noticed that my GA event tracking didn’t seem to be working.

The event tracking is set up in the page customisations, both in the listing pages and search results pages. This code pushes through to the functions.php file created for the child theme, however the functions file changes the event tracking code around, removing one of the “]” and a speech mark meaning the code pulls through on the site incorrectly. When I put a correct event tracking tag in the fuctions.php file it breaks the site, saying an unexpected T string.

Basically – Right now I don’t seem to be able to use event tracking if I want to use a child theme?

    Any support would be great.

    Thanks,

    Tom
