I have bought some Themes here in past years and had bought the Real Estate theme before it was Responsive. Later I bought the Responsive Real Estate theme and submitted suggestions to this forum at least 3 years ago.
It is with dismay & disappointment that I return after years to discover that nothing has changed significantly with the responsive Real Estate theme.
Despite the huge market for real estate and vacation rental portals over the past few years Premium Press apparently stopped short of creating a real full-featured short-term and rental vacations portal.
The question was asked repeatedly in the years past in this forum as to why not or when will the Rental Availability/Booking feature be developed and added so that the Real Estate themes can truly be converted into dedicated short-term rentals portals.
A third-party developer tried an availability calendar but it was failing to be a well-integrated solution. Mark expressed some interest but never committed to developing the Real Estate theme for Portal model.
Similar to VRBO and now hundreds of “cloud” hosted companies, users join, post their own rentals, have access to availability calendars and the calendar itself posted with each property can be the Inquiry form to either request an open days span or to actually book the open availability.
The owner logs in, sees the request or booking, can approve or start the next part of the process such as approve and pay, and performs maintenance and updating of each property calendar for each of their listings.
So, after prowling around I see that this has been a dead end development that never happened.
I am convinced that had it been packaged as a theme a few years ago that hundreds & hundreds of Vacation Rental Portal themes would have sold by now.
Ahhh well, moving on.
Dave, I agree that these features should be there. I felt quite disappointed (and short-changed) when I found that RT is really just the same as DT with a few cosmetic changes in the initial design setup. At the very least there should be availability calandar and the ability to search/filter by availability.
I upgraded to VIP because I wanted this theme and the shop theme – I feel they have both been neglected and lack some basic features that are necessary. (For shop really need to have separate stock levels and sku’s when using attributes and be able to check out with paypal as guest without entering all the address details first).
I like the simplicity of these themes and don’t expect them to compete with some of the specialist ones out there for functionality but there does need to be a minimum requirement for functionality or they are not much use and people will look elsewhere.
Mark, are there any plans to add any of the rather essential features I mentioned above? I’d like to think our loyalty and patience will rewarded.
If every feature everyone wanted could be added to a theme I dont think the theme would even be affordable.Mark Fail works day and night to add possible features to the theme but not every feature everyone wants can be added to a theme.Anyway send Mark Fail a ticket so He can consider adding the feature in the next updates >>http://s.premiumpress.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit
This has always been the response
Year after year
Poor Mark just can not add Every Feature
this is NOT “every” Feature, IS it?
Rentals more than Half the Real Estate market!
Real Estate theme “supports” Rental categories but Rentals always lead to Availability
No way around it, NONE
Since the ONE Site Vacation Rental Theme has had a Rental Availability Calendar all of these years, why do you think Mark took the time to Include it?
Since his whole site is set up to sell PORTAL solutions as the majority of his themes WHY would he then develop the Real Estate theme, include Rental support as a Feature, and yet then leave out the most useful feature of his single-owner Vacation Rental theme?
I will not submit another request. It is years too late.
But thank you, Josh, for taking the time to respond
Unfortunately this response is almost word-for-word the same years old response that does not take into account that we have not asked for chocolate sprinkles & candy kiss email modules.
I in particular pointed out that HE would be selling a whole lot more product in the Real Estate category if he took the time to bring that Rental Availability calendar into a dedicated VRBO-clone theme that offered some of the BASIC functions needed in a competitive portal market for Rental users.
It is the ONE feature sitting in plain sight, pointed out over and over in this forum since at least 2011 even before the dedication to the premiumpress.com URL as the main selling site.
This may help, do read the whole lot, subscribers can have their own calendar for listings
From over 30 plugins I searched, this seems to be the one, maybe, I haven’t tried it yet
Going along with David, and being a previous senior member and tester of Premium Press theme building and user for many years, this point had been requested many times.
Before the theme became responsive I created a booking calendar for the older theme and then Mark changed to Responsive layout only 3 months later lol.
So Josh, how can users purchasing a Responsive Real Estate theme for vacation rentals really make use of it? The theme has been adopted from Directory Press to be a Sales based Real Estate theme, and that’s what it should be marketed as.
I’m currently looking to use the new Responsive theme for updating my older sites, but it does appear that I might have to now develop (by paying my development team) my own calendar plugin again in order to utilise the Responsive theme.
It would be great for Mark to get in touch with me so we can discuss these points, and I will start testing the theme and new features again if he requires some help. We did this years ago and it worked very well.
Mark Fail is currently working on a new framework and theme. This feature might be included in the new theme
Josh this sounds very interesting =)
Tell Mark to email or Skype me, so I can give him some free feedback and test the BETA software.. He has my details.
Best way to contact Mark Fail is via ticket >>http://s.premiumpress.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit
Oh so I gotta do it the proper way now lol.
Ok ill be a good lad and send a ticket. Lets see if Mark answers =)
OK I’ve submitted a ticket already.
