I couldn't get the General/categories ordering system to work, so I downloaded a plug-in called "Category Order" ( http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/order-categories/ ) and then dragged and dropped my categories in the order that I wanted them.

This required that I put my 2nd category in the 4th place, my 3rd category in the 7th place, etc. In other words, I manually alphabetized the categories so that they would fall vertically. Wordpress still placed them horizontally, but by changing the order, they appear to be sorted alphabetically in vertical columns. The end result was the same as if they were alphabetized vertically.

Just thought I post this here, in case someone else had the same problem.

In the General/Categories section of the MoviePress dashboard, it doesn't matter if I check or uncheck the boxes of the categories or if I list a number in the "order" box or not. I can hide categories by using the "hidden categories" option, but using the "display categories" (checking the box next to a category, in the top section) has no effect on whether or not the categories are shown on the home page. All categories that are created are shown on the home page, whether or not I check the "display categories" option for that category on the General/Categories section of the dashboard.

Am I misunderstanding that categories are supposed to be shown only if the box is checked, and that they are supposed to show in the order that you input in the "order" box?

hi

there is noway todo this, Wordpress can only sort them by A-z/Z-a you would need to hard code them todo this or change the css completely.

I want the categories on the home page to be listed alphabetically & vertically in 3 columns:

a d g
b e h
c f i

Right now, they are listed alphabetically & horizontally in 3 columns:
a b c
d e f
g h i

In the General/Categories dashboard section of moviepress, no matter if I check or uncheck the category boxes, or if I re-order the categories, all the categories are always shown and always in the same (horizontal) order.

Is there a way to change the category order on the home page?

Thanks for any help.
